Review of glee air dates::When Does Dexter Start Again?

This               weekend               was               rather               calm               despite               the               rough               weather               we               suffered               earlier               in               the               week.

The               freeways               and               major               side               streets               were               cleared               by               Thursday,               and               only               a               few               obstructed               back               roads               remained.

Royal               Oak               dug               out               quickly,               but               we               are               used               to               that.

Overall               roads               in               Oakland               County               were               salted               early               and               remained               open               longer               than               roads               in               other               Michigan               counties.

Royal               Oak               is               known               for               its               decorative               flare               and               the               city               maintains               a               staunch               tradition               of               decorating               fairly               early               for               the               holidays.

It               is               a               pleasure               walk               down               Main               Street               and               smell               the               crisp               December               air.

Having               lived               in               the               area               for               many               years,               I               enjoyed               spending               my               Friday               nights               at               Memphis               Smoke,               chewing               on               wings               and               flirting               with               pretty               ladies               at               the               bar.

Needless               to               say               those               days               are               gone,               but               the               love               of               the               area               remains.

Typically               we               drive               to               the               Hollywood               market               to               pick               out               a               turkey               or               duck               for               Christmas               dinner.

Although               I               prefer               turkey,               we               often               have               duck.

My               small               child               likes               the               taste               of               the               moist               and               oily               bird               meat.

The               art               theater               in               Royal               Oak               is               another               landmark               I               spent               many               nights               at.

There               is               nothing               like               settling               down               in               the               back               row               of               the               Main               Art               theater               and               enjoying               some               tasty               popcorn.

I               saw               "Fog               of               War"               there               five               times.

I               love               that               movie.
This               weekend               we               found               ourselves               in               the               area               again               and               I               ducked               out               for               some               sushi.

I               grabbed               a               box               to               go               from               the               Little               Tree               Sushi               bar               and               met               my               wife               and               toddler               at               the               Mongolian               BBQ               across               the               street.

Good               sushi               is               hard               to               find,               and               now               that               supermarkets               are               trying               to               sell               it,               they've               drained               off               many               good               chefs               from               smaller               establishments.

As               my               wife               and               I               walked,               I               nodded               over               to               the               left.

She               held               up               her               hand               to               wave               me               away.

A               couple               of               blocks               in               the               direction               I               nodded               was               Sangria,               our               courting               restaurant.

We'd               had               many               dates               there               before               getting               engaged               and               we               continued               to               frequent               it               before               our               child               was               born.

My               wife               loved               their               tapas               and               they               reminded               me               of               the               ones               in               Spain.

They               tapas               were               more               Americanized               and               therefore               a               bit               more               palatable               than               the               calamari-laden               monstrosities               some               of               us               had               choked               down               in               Madrid.

My               wife               headed               straight               inside.

We               sat               and               spent               time               with               our               precocious               child.

The               food               was               modest               and               quite               tasty.

The               wind               blew               steady               and               cold               outside.

Tiny               flakes               appeared               every               now               and               then.

I               pointed               them               out               to               my               toddler               and               she               marveled               whenever               flakes               came               near               the               window.
As               a               family               we               sat               and               watched               the               weather               blow               by.

We               had               fond               memories               of               Royal               Oak               and               look               forward               to               making               more               as               the               years               progress.

Our               toddler               ate               quickly               and               ignored               our               nostalgia.

We               watched               with               modest               glee               the               other               families               on               the               street               enjoying               the               bustling               little               city.

It               seemed               everything               was               right               with               the               world               in               Royal               Oak               that               day.
